Cheese filled pockets

Today I am making a hearty lunch that will require three cheese ravioli, rich creamy butter, and fresh sage leaves.

Delicious cheese and butter .. a little is okay.  Fats help us absorb certain vitamins and keep the skin supple.

In the absence of meat or poultry,  small amounts of cheese and nuts help one feel satiated.

Sweet Layla is my buddy today.. always by my feet.

Is she waiting for food to fall or does she really want to be with me?

One will never know for sure but given those eyes.. I believe she is here because she's my pal :)

Having the time to shop for beautiful produce and create a family meal is a luxury in this fast paced world.

When my kids were little I used to turn OFF the television during meals and to this day.. always light a candle. When family and friends gather around the table .. memories are made, bonds created, emotions expressed.  These moments in time, this place we sit.. this is the center of the family.

Three Cheese Ravioli with SAGE Butter
serves 4 as a side dish

2 - 10 ounce packages of three cheese ravioli
1/2 stick of butter or more if desired
1 container or bunch of fresh sage (leaves only)
salt and pepper to taste
4 Tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 to 1/3 cup pine nuts

Boil water for pasta.  In a medium skillet, melt butter until it begins to bubble and get brown around the edges.
Add fresh sage leaves and fry until crispy.
Remove sage and allow to drain on a paper towel.  Meanwhile, salt the bowling water and add the pasta.  Set timer for 4 or 5 minutes.  Cook pasta and drain.. do not rinse.  Add the pasta back to the skillet with the sage butter.

**If you'd like to absorb some of the COOLED butter mixture, use a paper towel to do so.

Stir the pasta in the brown butter.  Place pasta on individual serving plates.  Add fried sage leaves and garnish with olive oil and pine nuts.

I enjoy this meal with a peppery greens such as arugula or a variety of mixed greens and a glass of

                                                       Sauvignon Blanc White Wine

Thank you so much for being here today.  It's SO good to be back!

  12. I don't have an issue with gluten but have tried the Quinoa pasta and it is quite nice. Lovely butter sauce and sautéed sage. I find that if I dry toast the pine nuts in a warm skillet, it enhances the flavour. Such a lovely video!! Your blog make over is beautiful.

  15. There are so many things I am loving about this post! First of all…the blog design is fabulous! I love it! It caught my eye right away! Secondly…the menu choice! My all time favorite thing is ravioli! And sage butter! You cannot go wrong there! I've never seen ( or perhaps I've overlooked it ) the quinoa pasta! Does it taste the same? I've been curious about quinoa for some time now and know I need to get to know it! Also, I think your dog likes to be with you…and then if an occasional crumb falls…that's just a benefit of being with you! Anyway, thanks for this wonderful post…the great recipe, etc….by the way…fraxel went quite well! Still recovering though!

But to see you is a treat that just made my day.Like you, I try to eat well, exercise and stay fit on all levels. 22. Lovely Leslie~it is such a treat to have you back in blogworld. Your redesign is absolutely gorgeous-just like you! The recipe you are making is one of my favorite types of pasta dishes. The combination of sage, butter, pine nut and lemon is to die for in this dish. I share your ritual of lighting a candle to create some ambiance for cooking and dinner time.
Your sous chef is adorable by the way! Speaking of your lovely header images-the one on the left-white skirt with sheer blouse reminds me of one of my favorite outfits when I lived in LA. So fun and fresh~just like your blog.
Happy house warming to your new 'digs' sweet friend!

  37. oh leslie--looking gorgeous on all fronts! what a gorgeous new design, title, and vibe you have created. i'm a forever fan no matter what is up your sleeve next.

the recipe looks amazing. i have been experimenting with gluten free pastas, and i guess to each her own. i care too much about taste, so i have decided i will try to create my own gfree homemade pasta or just have a little of the regular stuff (i'm not celiac, just sensitive). i have tasted so many sucky gfree products that it turned out to be super depressing soap opera where even quinoa puts me in a bad mood. *cue the strings*

keep filming, i'll keep watching and learning!

    love to you.

  39. Good evening sweet Leslie! How WONDERFUL to wake up from the couch, come to my blog post (for which I didn't think I would see any more visits) and then to find you. You sweet friend, YOU! Yes, I think a batch of anything chocolate is in order for these cold days that remain! We found a fantastic chocolate/strawberry tea that is decadent for those moments that you need a fix! But nothing beats a bowl of batter that will become something warm and chewy!

I am really loving the yellows in your new blog design. Isn't Debby wonderful? She did mine and I am so happy with it.

Well my friend, enjoy your weekend and most of all, RELAX! Anita

The recipe looks beyond good but since I have just started a diet (ugh) this is not in my repertoire at the moment. Looks heavenly and it is right up my alley, now excuse me while I go and eat my yogurt (I will pretend its ice cream). WELCOME BACK!

I so agree with you - I try to eat light especially all day while my husband is at work because in the evenings I like to indulge a little on a nice meal & wine with him. I agree with you in that I still need to have something a bit hearty that's going to last, especially when it's cold outside! This looks so fresh and delicious.
