An evening at the farm.. . #girlfriendseries

Every month I do a #girlfriendseries post to remind us of the importance of friendship.  My friend Susan is my partner in this fun series, and is always up and ready to go on a new adventure.  You can follow us around Seattle eating, shopping, and seeing the sites.

This  month's post features Susan herself! ... artist, designer, photographer, AND her gorgeous farm house.   The original owner is from Sweden and built the home in 1972.  The silo was added twenty years later.
Today we will tour around the outside,  focusing on all of the animals.   I love the simplicity of nature!  The smell of hay, horses, fresh farm eggs, goats running about... it just doesn't get any better than that!  So let's get our cowboy boots on and take a tour...

Here you see a view of her beautiful Pacific Northwest garden.  We do get a lot of rain, however the pay off is lots of lush green everywhere!  Nature does most of the watering for us so a sprinkler system is not necessary.  Gardens and lawns are often allowed to dry and re-seed for the following year.

A quick glimpse into her home.  Yum!

That's "Big" above :) and my puppy "Layla" below.  Getting a picture of her holding still was difficult and we had to make sure all the gates were shut so she didn't go after the chickens.

As soon as I arrived Susan opened up a chilled bottle of Prosecco and added some berry puree (one of my favorite drinks!)

Urns, lanterns .. all create beautiful ambiance.

Have you ever touched a goose? Meet Lucy.. her feathers are so soft!

Our girls and Thunder the pony ..

Meet Rikki ..this little guy reminds me of an adolescent teenage boy. What an attitude he had! If you approached him he'd turn and walk away and if you ignored him he'd come up behind you and ask for attention.

Here we are.. trying to pose for a quick picture (not easy when the animals will not stand still)  ..Ahhh.. come on Thunder!!

Always "cracking" each other up :) Laughter is a wonderful thing isn't it?!  ..hurry!!  take the picture quickly!!

Susan has a about a half  dozen chickens... some are roosters living in a different chicken coop. They get about one fresh egg a day from their hens.

Guess what they call this little guy??

Supermodel "AFro" (Polish Bantam Hen)

..and here we have a little problem.. the goat ran in and is trying to eat the chicken food.. oh no!!

.. that-a girl Susan!! .. way to take control of the Twinkle .. the goat!! Out she goes!

This little one is getting ready to lay an egg.. Susan can tell these kinds of things..

A secondary barn for more chickens...

Here is Fuzzy.. he is so cute but a little wiggly.  Susan told me to hold down his wings.. and he calmed right down :)

The sun is setting and it is almost time for the salmon to go on the grill..and maybe a little more Prosecco..

Hope you enjoyed our girls day today!
Next week.. a tour of the inside!

Have a wonderful week ahead!
