Leave it at the Door..

Glassybaby.. I love these grouped in threes.

What, you mean my shoes?

Nope, I'm talking about all the stuff you can't do anything about.

I say this to myself,
my family,and my
friends.

I believe there does come a time when, if there is nothing you CAN or CARE TO do about something,

you just have to move on.

Out and about in Seattle.  Such a darling little chair. I may need to pick up one of those towels!

.. so come on over, have a seat, let's visit, but leave it all at the door.

Emotional clutter.. clear it out and make way for clear, positive thinking.

Our winter in WA state.

Here we are at a local winery.

Grapes are grown and harvested in Eastern WA and then they come here where the fermentation process begins.  This winery used to be a dairy farm in the 1800's.

Do you believe in destiny?  Are some of us born lucky and others not? What if something bad happens.. get dealt a bad hand of cards? ..or what if we get struck by lightening? Are you then an unlucky person.. ?

We can't control everything that happens in our life time .. but we CAN manage our lives on a more positive note.

How pretty is this moss growing on the trunk of this gorgeous tree? Mother nature really has an eye for decorating doesn't she?

Topiary..  Love the way these look in the soft clouds of the day.

This beautiful peacock crossed my path and stopped for a quick photo:) I felt so fortunate to have this encounter.

We all have "stuff" .. it builds character and they say if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger.

The entrance at sunset..

How do you see it? Is your glass half full or half empty? Is life a celebration or a drudgery?

Celebrate ..all in moderation.

Here.. my glass is sadly :) empty.. but my heart is full as I am surrounded by all that is important to me.

I don't want to make this sound like I am miss HAPPY pants because if someone seems that way, they really aren't.  We all have "stuff" and get grumpy from time to time.

It takes work to keep everything in check!

A winter wonderland.. what better place to have some quiet time?

Rest, restore, revive.. this is the season of Winter.

Think, BE, move, walk, run, ski.

Use it or loose it, and if something doesn't work well, use whatever DOES!

Layla running in the snow.  Springers have a never ending desire to run, play, be, please.  They really love life:)

Stay in a cabin ..and maybe it will snow. Get cozy and make some pop corn, have a cup of tea or glass of wine.  Read a good book, watch a movie.

Laughter.. the best medicine.  Do it daily:)  (And you all know I have no problem with that! .. giggles with girlfriends:)

The feel of warm, soft clothes.. layering.

Perfect for the cold weather.. I wear Mou Shearling boots when it's cold and snowy.

I may need these jeans ~ and

how about that Donna karan cardigan? Love it!

If you aren't up for skiing, enjoy some quiet time in the lodge.  Hot cocoa? How about a coffee drink?

I had the Spanish Coffee and it was delicious.  A little giggly.. we decided to play cards.

When I got home I searched for a recipe on line.  This was the closest to what I had, however mine was not flaming.

Sometimes I imagine myself doing this kind of thing and then I laugh because I know that something entertaining will likely happen;)

Indulge a little here and there and enjoy the little things!

Leave it to me to find a candy shop wherever we are..
these candy canes are so pretty!

Wishing you a fresh start to the new year!

Thank you so much for being here.

xxleslie

  2. Good morning beautiful LESLIE! WOW, your home, that entrance, that TREE COVERED WITH MOSS! Your state is a lovely one to live in, and yes, many cloud loom over, but look at the results, a lush garden and hope of a great spring.

I love what you have to say. What we do with what has been accorded to us in life or the consequences of our actions is what the prize really is. Starting out on that note is a wise way to live my dear and I am looking forward to this year rolling ahead with EACH OTHER.

Thank you so much for coming to my post this morning; that paper dress I made will be delivered this Thursday to a local bridal stationary shop where I can finally show my work on a grander scale. I wonder what will come of this; all I know is that the entire month of December I spent in my basement making it!!!

MUCH LOVE to you and your family, Anita

  5. Wonderful message. I feel calmer already..ahhhhh. Happy New Year to you Leslie, I also spoke of "letting go" on my post. Not always easy but when you do its so liberating to just let things play out as they are meant to. And I firmly believe that when things aren't going right, you need to be proactive to MAKE them better, not just rest on your laurels. I loved hearing your thoughts and the pictures were so calming.
Thanks for your friendship, blog and wisdom....so happy I have been able to get to know you!

  9. What a lovely post! That's the perfect motto - leave it at the door. I'm going to try to do that as much as possible this year.

  10. "Leave It At The Door" - this is going to be my mantra for the New Year. I have a beautiful old Scottish ballroom chair by my front door and each time I look at it, be it going in or out, I will lay my worries there. Thank you so much for this thought Leslie, you have no idea how much it has helped me. This is the very reason I love this blogging community - so much love here!

  21. Leslie,
Sage advice. I think the best thing I ever read, and subsequently learned, is that we can't control what happens to us but we have full control as to how we deal with it. This post is such a great reminder for us all, even those of us who know these lessons...we still need a reminder now and then.

Isn't the Peacock an amazing bird? I think it crossed your path so you could take the wonderful picture that you did. I loved looking at all the snow pictures, as I don't see it that often in sunny California, except for up in the mountains. I smiled when I saw the Spanish coffee, as I am part Spanish myself. You sound like such a thankful person with your words, and I love grateful people. They are the happiest, you know? 73. Hello Leslie,
and happy new year with lots of good health and love in it! It is a very inspiring post, you are making me reach for some good thinking that we all seem to do when a new year comes along. My biggest struggle is to accept that things don't last, our son will grow up and I am sad already about it. And yet when I get to watch him grow up and have a family of his own, I can consider myself turly lucky. We are lucky to have a loving daddy and husband, that is a big fact and I am grateful every minute of the day. Why do I still feel sad about getting old(er) and moments of happiness escaping every day, to make room for new ones to come...? Maybe because I am so increadibly happy?
I like looking at your smile on your profile pic and reading your posts as they are very well written and kind, calming and thoughtful and enlightning .... may you always write them ((:
