Sacré-Cœur, Paris..
the highest point in the city.. and YES it's worth the walk up those steps!!
Next stop.. ST-Etienne-Du-Mont located behind le Pantheon..
A 16th Century Cathedral.. displaying a mixture of Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic architecture.
“Owen Wilson's steps in Midnight in Paris”
This is one of my favorite streets in Paris. It's no wonder you see it used as a backdrop for Midnight in Paris.
You will see glimpses of this quaint restaurant during the movie. Yes, it IS raining.. Paris is beautiful in the rain! Always carry an umbrella. Don't you love the entrance to this restaurant?
We hadn't planned to eat Italian food while in Paris, but we were starving and couldn't resist the French country charm of this spot. This waiter was so funny! He kept trying to dodge the camera.. but I think he secretly wanted his picture taken:)
Now THIS is how to do a business lunch!
It's a good thing I've been doing a lot of walking!
Moving on...
How did you celebrate Labor Day weekend? We had a couple events to attend downtown, otherwise we enjoyed a quiet weekend. Saturday evening we hosted a small gathering with friends. The weather was perfect for alfresco dinning. The table was set with linens from W&S and Anthropologie. I placed lanterns on the table and around the property for romantic ambiance. Expecting it to get cool, light blankets were set out for the ladies and heat lamps were accessible. After a cocktail and appetizers, fish was grilled for tacos. Plenty of condiments were available along with salads and a variety of wines. For dessert my girlfriend prepared Blueberry Crumble served in ramekins and I grilled some left over peaches purchased at the Market a few days ago.
Grilled peaches taste delicious with vegetables, fish, poultry, or beef.
I used about 5 OZ of French Cultured Cream..
1 Tablespoon of honey and 1 Teaspoon of vanilla..
On to the grill they go..
Meanwhile, I mixed up all the ingredients..
...then I added a dollop of the cream mixture to each peach. Mint was added, and a single blueberry. The final touch was a drop of honey!

Leslie's Grilled Peach Recipe:
4-6 ripe peaches
4-6 OZ creme fraiche
1.5 Tablespoons of honey
1 Teaspoon of vanilla
Mint, Blueberries for garnish
Slice peaches and set on hot grill. Meanwhile, combine creme faiche, honey and vanilla. Remove the peaches when grill marks appear and allow to cool slightly. Divide creme mixture between your peaches and garnish with mint and berries. Finish with a drizzle of honey.
As the summer fruit season draws to a close, I've been trying to serve melon, peach, and cherries in every way possible. Eating seasonally is natures way of assuring that we get a varied, nutrient dense diet.
So what do you do over the long weekend?
xx leslie

You took me on such a wonderful trip with these gorgeous photos. I miss Paris so much. Can't wait to get back there...funny enough in all the times I've been I've never made it to Sacre Coeur. Isn't that crazy? It's definitely on my must do list for next time.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great Labor Day weekend, Leslie. And these grilled peaches sound heavenly! :) xoxo
Oh to be there...your grilled peaches look divine! Hope your holiday was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of Paris! Can't wait to go see it in person.
ReplyDeleteLove your grilled peach dessert! I'll have to try them as I picked up a basket full of peaches over the weekend.
This weekend was spent with family enjoying the last bit of summer on the lake, grilling, and catching up with my kids....perfect end to the glorious summer.
Yummy, Leslie! And so easy to make. I've never had grilled peaches. Thanks for the recipe. And for more of your Paris trip. Beautiful photos....especially of the merry go round :) I'm ready to go back.

OMG what a great post!! Those peaches look amazing....have never had grilled peaches but in general I love anything that has peaches. And Paris.....need I say more, it is ALWAYS spectacular!! Funny about the Italian restaurant, we went to one three nights in a row! My son loves italian food and he begged us to go there, and I have to admit the food was excellent. And the funny thing is that the picture above looks like it, wouldn't that be funny if it was the same restaurant.
ReplyDeleteFun post Leslie!!
Such a nice post of paris, those peaches look lovely and your weekend sounds delightful!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, did you see that our blogger friend Emily of Splendid Market has moved to France - for 5 months! !!!
ReplyDeleteI will put your grilled peaches on my list - so pretty and yummy and using great pantry ingredients.
Your suggestion to enjoy a varied nutrient rich diet by eating in season is something I have embraced in the last few years. Something to do with the "eat locally" campaign and my own expression, "eat like a bear". Would be great to sleep through the winter like a bear too, but in a way we do as the days get shorter and colder we may not be out and about as much as we are in spring, summer and fall.
So my diet now is fish and berries leading into soups and root veggies. Ok now I'm really hungry and still need to mow the lawn....
Cheers!
Ok! Made this for dessert tonight as the topper offer to ribs and grilled veggies.
DeletePlease TRY to wait before topping the grilled peach halves. Thought I had waited long enough...tasted great! Just a bit (a very little bit) runny when my guests finally began eating.
Mega YUM! And perfectly light with a nudge of creamy. :-)
Cheers!
This looks so delicious! I love peaches too so I would love to try a grilled one soon and if I ever make it to Paris again I'll be making the treck up those steps, they definitely look worth it.

ReplyDeleteSo nice that you still have more gorgeous photos of Paris to show and no matter how many times I visit Paris I'm always stunned by the beauty of Sacré Coeur. I grill peaches with double cream and brown sugar but your recipe is a healthier alternative. They look delicious and pretty with the mint and blueberry too.

cool:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous post Leslie! All around--including the very Parisian men sipping their "Coca"'s at lunch! ;) The restaurant looks like a find--I actually think it is often hard to find good Italian in France and the gnocci looks to die for. And yes, its fine--you walked it off, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteEverything here is YUMMY. Grilled peaches, your lunch at the little Italian cafe, and all the shots of Paris especially the quintessential Carousel. :)
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I looked at the picture of the 'business lunch' you mentioned, because there is a big bottle of Heinz Ketchup on the table. Is that common?
Thanks for more pictures of your beautiful trip.
I always enjoy your Paris photos Leslie and feel transported back there. The grilled peach recipe sounds wonderful!

ReplyDeletevery nice photos!! Paris is my favourite city..I miss it so much!
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog - just followed you :D
Love your pics...took me
ReplyDeleteback to my first trip to
Paris {which hopefully
will not be my last}!!
We ran kids around this
weekend to their various
events, then celebrated
all together having dinner
and watching fireworks
on Sunday night. It all
takes place at the local
country club down the
road, which throws open
its doors for the neighborhood.
A tradition for us, but we
realized that next year
our daughter will be off
at college by Labor Day!
We love to grill fruit, too.
Your recipe sounds wonderful.
Hope the week has started
off GREAT for you, Leslie!
xo Suzanne
Hello! What a lovely French indulgence (: but I mostly just want the peach recipe, as I have boxes of very ripe delicious melting in the mouth peaches from British Columbia and lots of mint in the garden ((:
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Labor day you had, good company is always best. We were riding horses and our 3 yr old is in love with that...hours on a pony was... is nothing for him! I guess I know what my next hobby is to be and I get to spend time with him too. Lucky we live in Alberta, plenty of places to board a horse!
Hugs Z
So much fun to see more of your Paris pictures Leslie. Doesn't matter how many times I've been there I can never get enough of seeing Paris. Your peaches sound wonderful and since the husband just picked the last of them off our trees I'll have to try your recipe. As for Labor Day I worked 17 hours but it was fun work for my business....buying antique textiles, what could be better at least for me?

Thanks for transporting me to Paris with these photos Leslie! I think my thighs still remember my hike up to see the Sacré-Coeur but the view of the city was worth it. ReplyDeleteDearest Leslie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comment on my 1947 Lampe Berger. You seem to have had a splendid time in Paris, according to your photos. It surprised me though that you commented on my Lampe Berger: So darling! Candle light and lanterns create such beautiful ambiance. The blue and white fabric is stunning .. with the silver. Beautiful!
They are NOT lanterns but lampes hygienique. Please watch this for more info about those uniquely French lampes: http://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2011/10/live-in-air-you-love.html
Hugs to you,
Mariette
