Even though my kids are grown, I still find myself taking inventory and making a to-do list for fall. Can we squeeze a quick getaway in before the start of September? I need to schedule my Doctor's appointments.. my house is dusty from having the windows open (I like the fresh air.. but those darn bugs!) and things are a bit scattered. I remember when the kids were small.. I enjoyed having them home, but also looked forward to resuming the school schedule.

I wanted to share a new product I tried that has really helped my dry, chapped lips. The pink grapefruit is my favorite. Used a couple of times a week, it's helped to keep my lips exfoliated and hydrated. You could probably make your own with a little sugar mixed with your favorite oil.. but I like the way this product smells and the container is darling.
Most of us have a little summer glow.. requiring just a touch, if any, make up. I'm loving the light lips.. maybe a nude or just the right shade of pink.
Well, you all know about my hair woes.. Add this to something else that changes as you get older! Hair usually gets more course.. and sometimes a few grays pop up. Finding the right shampoo, conditioner, and leave on products is essential. Good hair, skin and teeth.. a must in my book!
I've been using the Kerastase products.. a little goes a long way.
Moroccan Oil has a cult following, however I find it a little heavy.
Pequi and Argan oil are a bit lighter and work well to protect and moisturize my hair. It's worth a try if you are on the look out for a new product.

Even if you can't get to a spa... carve out some quiet time at home.
I'm heading out for a much needed girls lunch and then maybe a little shopping with my daughter! Take time to savor the last days of summer..

Great post, Leslie! Skin and hair really take a beating this time of year. I do my best throught the summer to keep things healthy looking and feeling. But come September I really take things up a notch to renew it all. Oh an I love the Sarah Haap lip scrub too :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! xoxo
Gorgeous images, Leslie...I adore the bathroom ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the nude lip...just purchased 2 more of my favourite as it always seems I find a lipstick I like and then it's not made anymore...thinking ahead!!
Have a fabulous weekend.

Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI used to be sexy...wonder if I could get it back
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I feel, I feel so far from being sexy now, hmm, we need lessons!
DeleteOne of the best things about summer has to be fresh fruit in the morning. Love your tips! I hear you on the good skin, hair and teeth. I usually do a DIY lip scrub with a little sugar and lip balm but I bet that pink grapefruit must smell lovely. I'm def. a neutral girl when it comes to nails just cause they last longer and my husband doesn't like colors on me. I can't believe summer's almost over but all the more reason to enjoy while we can.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your support Leslie! Have a lovely weekend!

I never do mani/pedis, I'm the one female who can;t bear beauty salons and spa trips, but I do love Kerastase, I used their products in my twenties, they were excellent.
ReplyDeleteNo, you aren't the only one Tabs. I cut my own hair and do my own nails! But this was a lovely reminder to pamper and enjoy the weekend.
DeletePS. Wearing a silver chrome Essie color on my toes. I never would have bought it but my Sister sent it and I love it. :)
Merci, Leslie!
I'm a fan of nude colors, but I will opt for a nice pop of color on toes only. Not my hands. I think a pedi is one of the wonderful luxuries in life. Although I have a best friend who would rather have a tooth pulled than let someone touch her feet. Ha ha .
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
OOh, have a lovely time with friend and daughter shopping. I've had my hair straightened and have to use the Brazilian products (incredibly pricey, i think it's a sales stunt, they say you have to use their products to keep the straight) Anyway they are really good, but used to use Kerastase...loved it.
ReplyDeletei love everything about each one of these photos!

Hi Leslie....I LOVE Kerastase products, they are amazing! For nails I like buffs and light colors but at the moment have a beautiful red/coral on my toes and it looks great with all my sandals. Agree about taking good care of our skin and hair, its the only one we've got!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!
thanks for sharing all your picks. most hair products are too heavy for my fine tresses so i always go light on product. i haven't noticed my hair getting coarse, just thinning out which is like OH HEEYYYYAALLLL NO! i have some homemade real hair extensions for special occasions!

Love this post! I'm always game for a new beauty product! I will check out the lip product and the hair products for sure! I agree about the Morrocan oil being too heavy…I usually mix it with something else! Can't wait to try what you mentioned! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely images! Thanks for the product info...good to know!
ReplyDeleteHope your lunch & shopping was fun!

I love all of your pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat lipstick shade is gorgeous, as well as the satin nail polish: they look great on you, while on me I prefer transparent lipgloss and coloured nail polishes.
I have dry hair too, and I will try Kerastase as you suggest. I find Moroccan oil too heavy as well, while Broer oil is lighter and effective (see my review if you like).
Have a great weekend Leslie!

Enjoy lunch with your daughter. Sounds like good time spent. Loving all those products. Especially the lip scrub. I'm now in the mood to buy some new products and spend the day pampering myself. Kids go back to school Monday..hmm sounds divine to me! Enjoy the weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMoroccan oil is way too heavy for my hair too which much to my dismay is fine. I still have my cosmetology license so I get to get all the good stuff at cost! I have been going for bright nails this summer - especially on the toes. I don't paint my fingernails a whole lot because they chip like crazy. Like the gel nails, but they damage the fingernails badly. I am all for a pink or nude lip! xo
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures, Leslie, and of course marvelous tips and advices...I'm a nude nail polish kind of girl, BUT...I love to use a bold RED lacquer from time to time, YEP! It's all or nothing to me, hehe!
ReplyDeleteLately I'm enjoying girls lunchs and shopping with my daughter, too...It's great when daughters become the kind of women we actually enjoy to spend time with!!!
Have the best weekend!
Big hugs!

Umm Leslie, you have grown kids? Like how grown?? I thought you were my age, like early 30s! What's your secret! I am a huge fan of kerastase products as well, and true...a little goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteOK. How nice is THAT?!
DeleteI love the kerastase products. Strangely daughters hair required it more than my own bleached locks {I now stay out of chlorine and the sun)! We have another couple coming over for dinner tonight so my "me time" will be spent entirely in the kitchen. I secretly love it!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a marvelous weekend!

beautiful inspiration here I am finding:))
ReplyDeleteI am greeting!
Currently orange on my toes.
ReplyDeleteGoing out on Tuesday and plan to wear a pearly white on my fingers. Rarely wear fingernail polish as it lasts about 1/2 a day.
Love a good pedicure/massage - not at those "itchy toe" places. But haven't been for over a year. Do it myself and it shows! :-)
Cheers!
Lovely post. I too love Kerastase products and have just started their new elixir oil. If Moroccan oil was too heavy, I strongly recommend Kerastase Elixir. I'm never disappointed with their products xx
ReplyDeleteMy favorite nail color for my toes is a fun metallic blue from issie called "beach bum blues", love it. I don't bother with enamel on my fingers, it never last, a little buffing works best for me.
ReplyDeleteI've been using a new oil, argabeta oil by Dikson, and it has been great, it seems to absorb better than the Moroccan and more effectively condition.
I love an hour or so in the bathroom for a multi-tasking spa session!! Enjoy your lunch and your Fall organizing bug {I always feel that too}.
I love scrubs!!! I love how my skin feels when I use them! Hope you're having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post and so many gorgeous images and products you have shown.
I use Kerastase products and sometimes have a change with Redkin and L'Occitane which is all herbal and smells divine.
Have a wonderful new week
Hugs
Carolyn
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wonderful tips! This post came at a perfect time for me because I have been wanting to try something new for fall. I'm in need of a little pampering. I'm going to give the lip scrub a try and also Karastase products. Thanks for the inspiration! Love your images too!!! Just beautiful!

What gorgeous images - can't wait to try the lip scrub!
ReplyDeletebeautiful images, so fresh and girly. Pleased to have found you ....must make more time to do my nails:-) x
ReplyDeleteWe're still in Winter and I'm already getting my skin ready for summer! I'm in denial! I'm going to have to try that lip scrub. I haven't noticed the Chanel White Satin at the Chanel counter during my trips there but will keep an eye out - not sure I could pull it off though xoxox
ReplyDeleteHello Leslie!
ReplyDeleteI have been entertaining guests and hiking in the Rockies...so I was off the blogging for a while and I barely realized it....after the first week of no Ipad frenzy, I forgot a bit...wihich was nice for my brain to refresh...
The soft white pallete you chose has been haunting me for a while, I bought all those romantic white tops and blouses and even a dress with eyelit embroidery in white...Marocan oil has been my daily help, yes I have to use very very little of it. (:
But I am looking for a new facial cream (using ESPA now) as I think a change is good, just dont know what to turn to ... Love the product you picked though... I guess I need a facial moisturizer that would take away all my dried out skin like a miracle ((:
hope you are well! xoxo Z
Love that gorgeous ponytail!

ReplyDeleteI wonder where summer went? We didn't have a very long summer with the rain but I have taken full advantage of the days I could.
All white done right! Summer looks so sophisticated and chic from this collection...love all the sea-inspired looks, from the products to that marble bath..gorgeous!

If my bathroom looked anything like the one in the picture of your post, I suspect I'd be locking myself in it all the time. This was a beautiful post, so soothing with all of the soft pictures and the gentle wording. I love it here!
ReplyDeleteSuch a bright and white post...perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I could do with a little spa time, even if it's in my own bathroom. My nails need taken care of, my skin is a little dry from the sun and my hair is wild, haha. Maybe do that one of these days during the week :) I love nail polish, I like to wear all kinds of colours, sometimes just wear red though, it reminds me of the old movie starlets I used to smile over when I was little like Bardot, Monroe and Theda Bara, they always wore red as that was really the only colour, but, their nails were immaculate, so I think of them. Hope you enjoy the last days of summer & shopping with your daughter. I love shopping with mine even though their just small still, but its fun :)) xx
ReplyDeletejust discovered your blog ; it's beautiful !
ReplyDeleteLovely post! I love Kerastase hair care too, and I really want to try that lip scrub! Pink grapefruit is one of my favourite scents/flavours xo

Oh my dear friend... I'm catching up on blog post reading and visits ... August has been about catching up on life on this end. Your post was perfect for me today; I have been thinking about going back to using Kerastase products ... I'm currently using an other salon product for shampoo and conditioner and I do use Moroccan Oil (the leave in cream for curly hair) when I don't get to the stylist for my regular blow outs.
ReplyDeleteYes, the change of season is perfect time to get in a head to toe day at the spa.
Wishing you a fabulous week ahead! Hugs, C. (HHL)
