Soon I'll be leaving for vacation. I'm anxious to reach our destination but NOT looking forward to sitting on an airplane for what seems to be days.... Due to my anxiety (ants in my pants and claustrophobia) I've come up with a few travel tips to make it a little easier.
First, I always wear something really comfy (Vince drawstring pants, a tee, and jacket) and I bring a cashmere scarf to keep me warm and I find it also helps me to rest. A pillow for the neck is also helpful if you don't mind packing it with your carry on.
Flying makes me feel grungy and sticky. Giovanni towelettes help keep my hands and face feeling fresh and I like the lavender scent.
Too keep my tummy from rumbling, I always pack a few snacks for the flight because I don't like the food on the airplane. We also try to buy something like a sandwich in the airport once we pass security. We are fortunate that SeaTac has a nice selection of food options.
Moisturizer for my hands and lips. Between my flying anxiety and the dry air, my lips are always in need of a little moisture.
Love the diptyque collection. They have a wonderful travel collection perfect for carry on.
I always bring assorted magazines, a couple good books, and a word search.
Any good book recommendations??
I always feel better when I stay hydrated. Lots of water and maybe a cocktail ..
Looking forward to something sweet when I get there..
I'll try to take lots of pictures..
..but I won't be able to visit my favorite blogs. I have promised to leave my computer at home and give my undivided attention to..
Be back in a few weeks!
xx leslie

This is too too precious, Leslie.

Leslie,
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip!!! I, too, share your fear of flying. Not my favorite thing to do. But, if you want to see the world, you just have to make it as comfortable as possible. It sounds like you're prepared and will be rewarded on the other side with the experience of a lifetime!
Can't wait to hear all about it when you return!
xoxo Elizabeth
Have the best trip Leslie! You´re not alone with flying anxiety! I have tried everything! And some help, more than others:) But actually, have a glass of wine or two preferrably:)And some faith that millions of people are up in the air daily. I recently went to NY from Sweden, which is a 8 hour flight, and it went well! this flight for you is going to be great! Have good expectations! And you do look prepared:) xoxo Caroline
ReplyDeleteI do like the look of the towelettes (lovely lavender!) Must try to buy some before my next flight which will be a long one - Hong Kong! Have a wonderful trip - I'm sure you will eat lots of macarons. Looking forward to the photos!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday! Look forward to seeing some lovely photos:)

Your photos are all so fresh and you're travel are all spot on! The one other thing I would add for your nerves is Bach rescue remedy - a few squirts on the tongue really reduces stress - I've used it a few times and it really works! Also, lavender essential oil - 3 drops in a hanky is all you need and inhale deeply to stay relaxed!! I cannot wait to hear all about your trip and see all the photos!!

I know you will have a wonderful time in Belgium and France. Leslie, I also have flying anxieties. As frequently as we travel, I still do not like flying. But, it is totally worth it. And, you will be there before you even know it. Take care and bon voyage!! xoxo, Loi

It seems like you have it covered. Yay! Have so much fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Leslie,
ReplyDeleteWherever you are flying to, guess not for days..., have a relaxed and cozy flight. Staying warm is important as you arrive sleep deprived and that makes you feeling cold too. The hassle at the airports is far more worse than the flight itself. But it never will be like it used to be in the 80s or 90s for that matter. Glad we flew our 1,500,000 miles at the good times. Love to you and enjoy!
Mariette
Great pics! Have a great vacay!

Wonderful...enjoy your trip, how fabulous!! Great tips. Have a relaxed flight, I always bring music or books to forget I'm flying. Enjoy and have a gorgeous week. xx
ReplyDeleteLeslie...fun fun fun! Another thing we have in common, I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic! I have to take Ativan to even think of stepping on a plane but once I do, I am good to go. I always bring lots of mags, somekind of spray to keep hydrated, definitely snacks, sorry but plane food is downright gross! Hope you have an amazing time, and take lots of pics. Safe travels!!
ReplyDeleteHave a blast, Leslie!! I am so excited for you. I hate to fly too. I don't get nervous, just bothers my neck being cramped in one position that long. I am the one person who can't sleep on a plane either. What is is about planes that make you feel so dirty? There is a disgusting stench in the stifled air. Take lots and lots of photos so we can live vicariously through your adventures. See you when you get back!! xo
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun on your trip, Leslie! Paris, I think I remember. I have the same comfy travel clothes I use for all my long trips and they are quite similar to yours (I always tuck a pair of socks into my carryon because my feet get cold during the night. AND lip stuff is a must for me as well. Stay hydrated!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time, Leslie! I promise it will be worth every minute of anxious, nervous, uncomfortable, stickiness! Can't wait to hear all about your adventure!
ReplyDeletelovely post,best of the trip

ReplyDeleteLeslie, have a great time. It looks like you have everything under control.
ReplyDeleteBon voyage Leslie, and I know you will have the very best time there. We were there in July one time and it was quite hot so take some summery clothes.
ReplyDeleteI find going on a long haul flight if you can relax and not try to think too much of where you are - have a glass of wine helps too. Look forward to hearing and seeing your photos.
Have a safe and wonderful trip

Have a wonderful trip and don't be nervous. Flying is supposedly safer than driving! You might as well sit back and relax and enjoy the ride. But I loved all these tips and your presented them so beautifully! Thanks so much for your outlook on my recent blog post. You're right, we don't have to make excuses for blogging!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time..ps I LOVE that last pic...enjoy THAT!

ReplyDeleteLeslie! It has been one of my favourit posts to read this one from you!! I am too anxious travelling in general and airplanes are just a lot of unpleasant things all together and you have made it that much better with this focused "tackle it all" plan (: It really boils down to those few things and I had no idea about Giovanni towels, will get those and the travel cosmetic kit looks really fabulous too...
ReplyDeleteWe had to postpone our holiday trip as I had some health concerns but luckily all is fine ((: and I am so happy and grateful now. It has been a very stresfull past week for me...the rain doesn't help (I like rain but not for weeks when I am worried lol) and so now I am ready for a trip more than ever before to bring some relaxation in my system...I will most definitely look up the products you recommend and try to relax even on the plane before a holiday begins...with your tips!!
Enjoy your vacation too...the last picture covers it all (: and the very first picture makes me feel good ...btw you always find these gorgeous women in a very romantic, relaxed atmoshphere... nice signature of yours!

Leslie,
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your vacation. Sometimes it's so nice to get away from it all. When we return, we are refreshed and ready to go. Peace be with you on your wonderful trip.

I`m an awful flyer too! I am going to steal your idea about bringing a wordsearch. That is a great idea. Usually I bring books and magazines too and my own head phones to watch the movies and usually a bit of work too. Besides the water and the cocktail you should try drinking some OJ on the plane, it`s great for hydration too. As yummy as the bubbly is I don`t drink on the plane cause it really dehydrates you. Great post and have fun on your vacation! Hope your plane ride passes by quickly.

Oh, btw, I always bring a face mist to refresh & hydrate, Caudalie has a great one, as well as Philosophy called. Spring is Eternal.
ReplyDeleteI'm the worst flyer. I hope you have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a fabulous trip! I can't wait to hear all about it.
