{feeling a little} Enchanted {in my} Home

Blue and whites are a gorgeous accessory for the home.  I like to place two or three pieces on white marble or dark wood.
These pieces were purchased at The Enchanted Home Store.  Tina is wonderful, always helpful and offering only the very best home decor.

My orchid seems content in this vase.  The root is exposed allowing for just the right amount of water.

Growing up along the coast, I immediately fell for this print.

Still trying to decide where to put it.  Maybe above this chest along with the vase?

I went ahead and had Tina frame the print and just love it.

Tapestry pillows!! It looks perfect in my living room along with linen pillows with ties in the back.

We just returned form a quick little getaway and I took a personal day off today in order to get my errands done.  I HAD to take my girls..

Ginger is in the front (Layla in the back) and she is 12 years old.  Two weeks ago she tore her ACL (a ligament below the knee) and has had the use of only 3 legs. We can't do surgery because of her age .. so we had a brace made for her.
Tonight was her first night in the brace. We hope this allows her to build surrounding muscle and scar tissue to give her the stability she will need to be able to walk again.

It's no fun getting old .. poor girl.  She looks kinda funny because I had to shave her to put the brace on.

  12. Blue is one of my favourite colours for the home - we've paired it more with cream in our apartment but it is lovely with white, too

  13. Leslie - This may be of interest to you: "google" veterinary use of platelet rich plasma therapy Seattle

My (human) Physical Therapist had great success in her knees with a one time proceedure. PRP Therapy has shown to rebuild ligaments, tendons & discs. Dr.s take the patients own blood and spin out the parts (plasma ?) and immediately inject it into the area of concern. Always worth a "look see".

    Cheers!

  14. Your home looks lovely!! And look at Ginger...she looks like such a sweetheart. The ACL is no fun. Two of my puppies have had ACL surgeries but if they had been closer to Ginger's age we wouldn't have put them through that either. Hope you had a nice and relaxing break!

  18. Oh that painting, and that pillow. They're divine.

Also, I;m obsessed with your dogs. What breed are they? I read a beautiful poem about dogs and getting older. It's hard but your pups make it look graceful :)

  19. The blue and white colors are timeless! And I love your pillow! My dog is 12 also (Katie, a black lab) and usually lies in her bed on the porch, however, we have new neighbors with a dog and 3 cats and Katie has been a chasin' them back to their home, and now she can hardly move! It's so hard to watch them get old :(

  24. Dearest Leslie,

Read your comment on Celia's 'High Heeled Life & the Country' blogpost and wanted to come over. You are fairly new to Blogger I read. Welcome to this caring family. We all are on a journey through life... I started after I'd been completely paralyzed, for no reason, suddenly. Got off my Prednisone when you started blogging and of course, you always worry when it will attack again and what will/would trigger it. My Mom is in her 5th year of Dialysis now and for that reason I want to spare my kidneys as much as possible by not taking too many chemicals into my system. Not knowing if I ever can hug her again, since our last visit to The Netherlands in September last year, is tough too. Only via the phonecalls each Sunday after Church we have contact with the parents. Tough but that's the emotional price for first time immigrants. It is too expensive for flying over for a visit... Besides, my husband had open heart surgery in the same year I got paralyzed (8 months later...) and I cannot leave him alone.
So I understand your dilemma of your dear Dad too well. We suffer if our parents live through something tough and yes, we wonder what will 'get' us when we age. But than, why worry too much?! We must learn to appreciate each day, all the little things like fresh home grown flowers from the garden, a tea, a good book or movie. A walk with your loved one, or with the dogs. We got cats but one of them walks loose with us like a dog!
There are always more good reasons for enjoying life as for dragging ourselves down with too many worries. One thing I know for sure, there will be something after this life, something we cannot yet grasp but maybe our loved ones can protect us even more so from that space... and LOVE never ends, not even by death nor by seemingly unreachable situations. And we all live for the memories, that will be forever embedded deep inside our hearts. That will support us till the very end.
Love to you and enjoy your weekend. The sun is just showing up here as I write this... we had (much needed) rain.

  36. Your vase is so pretty, and I love your chest. You're right, there's something so special about blue and white in the home. I don't know why, but my favorite tea cups are the blue ones. I really like that picture too.

  40. I am enchanted by Your house!
Connection of blue and white color is very trendy! I saw last collection of Zara Home and there are many items in this style :) I think, that the pot and the vase match great everywhere, but on the dark wood sideboard pot looks very elegant! I have similar pot to Your from my grandmother. But one thing I loved immediately - picture with the beautiful frame. It' s wonderful!
Poor Layla! I had a dog, called Fred and I cried watching his pain :(
Best wishes for You and kiss from sunny Poland
