The Witch and Her Dragon Slayer

Could it be that I got up on the wrong side of my bed?  It could also be the weather - it's been cold, dark, and rainy and I'm craving sunshine. Perhaps it's hormones?  Either too much or not enough, why are women designed to be so complicated?  Maybe it's this cold I've had.  It's still zapping my energy and giving me a Blah feeling.  In fact I'm feeling a little grumpy.  It will pass, however that is how I feel today.  Do you have those days sometimes?  Nothing comes together - hair, make up, the outfit?

At my local natural foods market I ordered a Dragon Slayer - The juices of grapefruit and orange, along with ginger, lemon, and cayenne pepper. Served warm and frothy - very soothing when I'm under the weather.

Looking a little sassy I guess, my friend said "you need one of these" and I said "Ah, trying to sweeten me up?"  (women just get it when it comes to these kinds of things).  I love the chocolate, caramel AND salt.  Takes care of all the cravings in one bite.

Today I need to rest and I will listen to my body. Besides, who wants to be around someone that's feeling a little witchy?   I'm going to spend some time alone.

Maybe I'll go buy something pretty - a scented candle, shimmery lip gloss, lingerie - all those fun, frilly, romantic things that make being a woman so special.

This weekend we have no obligations and my husband asked if I'd like to spend a day in the city with him. A little shopping and eating and then home to watch a movie! I'm still several movies short of my list before the big day.  Who do you think will win?  I might have to make  some buttery popcorn - or Red Velvet Cupcakes.

                                                        Liebster Award Recipient

Surprise! Yesterday I received an award from  miss bbobochic

Miss B. resides in the UK and has lived in France and traveled to Hong Kong, Singaporre, and The Middle East.  Sharing her adventures with readers, I always look forward to her entertaining blog posts!  Thank you so much  for including me and I so appreciate your kindness and support! xoxo

I started blogging a few months ago - still in the figuring it all out stage and realizing how much work is involved! Writing and playing on my computer is fun, but the best part of blogging is all the amazing and talented women I've met.  What a supportive and {generally} kind group (I've heard stories but haven't experienced anything negative yet ;)  The best blogs are the simple, honest ones -

Now it's my turn to mention 5 newcomers to the blog world!

Vanisha's Life    Vanisha is from Fiju and is currently living in Australia working on her PhD.  She writes about food, family, and travel.

Barefoot in Blue Jeans  This writer is an empty nester living in Florida.  She's so sweet and writes on home, food, and other varied topics.  Pretty photos and varied topics!

The Lonely Wife Project   Sabra is from San Diego. Her blog is filled with interested photos and topics that vary.  It's very personal, and to the point.

I Dream of      The author  writes about her aspirations of becoming an artist.  Rather than writing on what she is knows (her day job) the writer is a dreamer - love it, and I can relate to what she's thinking!

La Vie enRose    Sharon is living LaVie en Rose with her husband and two sons.   They bought a home two years ago and are turning it into a home with French Country and New England influences.  I adore all things French and look forward to her simple varied posts!

Head over and say hello!

  6. I think that Dragon Slayer would come in handy on some days ... I call these days, to hubby's amusement, hair-from-hell days ;-) I hope it got better and it looks you'll have a wonderful weekend.

PS. I'm afraid I don't little about Ghent as I've only been there two times. But some of my Flemish friends know much more: http://theyummyblogsisters.blogspot.com/2011/12/foodie-itinerary-through-ghent.html
and here is the part 2:

  8. Leslie, how sweet you are! And what great blog company to be in. Congratulations on your award and thanks so much for passing it along to me! I'm very appreciative. Hope you are enjoying a day about town - we still haven't managed to leave the house! I'm horribly behind on movies - I think the only one I've seen that's been nominated is Midnight in Paris. But I'll be watching for the fashion - eating truffle butter popcorn and sipping champagne. Have a lovely weekend! XO

PS - I think I need to start every day with a Dragon Slayer!

  9. I LESLIE!

Thank you so much for coming to visit and trying on a pair of angels' wings. You know, I have those days too that you describe up above and in my case, it is stress from work, AGE....(MENOPAUSE CITY!) and also a feeling of not getting as much accomplished as I want. I LOVE THE IDEA of that juice drink; I had told myself that today I was going to make a cleansing cocktail of juiced beets, carrots and apple. But it is TOO COLD HERE TOO!!!!! A nice tomato soup with broccoli should cleanse and reinvigorate!

It will pass dearest. Just get out and DO SOMETHING ACTIVE!! I am going to go work out NOW. CIAO!!! Anita

  11. THIRTY YEARS FOR YOU TOO???? Oh how fabulous. Our anniversary is March 6th and as soon as school is out (we are both teachers) in June, my husband is taking me back to our honeymoon spot: CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA. We were in Paris for our 20th....oh dear, it has been that long since I have been to my home away from home! HAVE A BLAST! And I agree that exercise and EATING LOTS OF VEGETABLES is the key to getting through menopause with a smile...HAVE A GREAT DAY! Anita

  26. Leslie, I am honored that you enjoy my post and have nominated it. I have to appologize for the time it's taken me to reply(Feb. has been a super busy month for me, and this weekend my daughter is in town for her 21st b-day) When I first read your comment, I stopped breathing for a second and then looked again...did I read that right,OMG. Thank you soooo much. I like you am a fairly new blogger and I'm still trying to figure it out. The problem is I LOVE blogging, I just wish I knew how to do it better. Lots of questions to get answered...what are buttons, how do you get one, why do I need one etc. I am confident the day will come when it will all make sense to me. I hope you have a great week ahead and thanks so much for your vote. I love reading your blog, it's always so inspiring.
